Stoughton

Stoughton is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts. The town is located approximately 16 miles from Boston, 25 miles from Providence, and 35 miles from Cape Cod. Stoughton was first settled in 1713 and was officially incorporated in 1726. It was named after William Stoughton, who was the first chief justice of Colonial Courts and the notorious chief justice of the Salem Witch Trials.

Stoughton is less than 15 miles from Dedham, where Gassco Inc. is located.  Stoughton is known for its musical history and social activism. The oldest choral society, founded in 1786 as The Stoughton Musical Society has performed several concerts at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.  The people of Stoughton are proud to become the first municipality in Massachusetts to declare itself a “No Place for Hate” town.
